Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Arriving from Newcomers Nook
Artemis had arrived with Fell at the place they called Azure Wild, and he could see why it was so. It was a vast forest that had been inhabited by blue spruce trees. With the amount that coincided within such a place, the piney scent that radiated off of them only collected into one large gust, invading his nostrils. Truthfully, he didn't mind it. In fact, he embraced it. It was indeed a change of pace from seeing black and white with only the unforgiving cold preventing any form of smell. This type of landscape was refreshing. Though, it wasn't to be mistaken that he despised winter. There was always a place for it within his heart. Azure eyes observed the ficus before them, pivoting his body as he walked, taking in the scenery before properly walking forward once again, only to realize that he had lagged behind from Fell.
Catching up with only a few strides, Artemis then asked, "I can see why they call it Azure Wilds. It's um... It's very, blue."
Clearly stating the obvious, he went on.
"Just how long have you lived here?"

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell led the at a trot, following her nose towards the tall trees of Azure Wilds. She remembered the first time she founded the place, how blue it appeared to be from a distance. Fell slowed her gait as they weaved their way through the trees. Leaves didn't fall here, the ground mostly clear, earthy, but soft. She flicked an ear at his question, laughed at his earlier comment. "A month." She replied, focused on where she was going. "I haven't gone very far. Too big to know all of its secrets." She paused for a moment and looked back into his blue eyes. "It is nice to have company this time. Perhaps finding a suitable den would be the next step. I slept in that thicket for day since it was more reasonably closed off from larger predators. This forest doesn't have much brush to tuck into, only the pines and firs you see around you."
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis had listened attentively as she explained herself, in which had caused him to observe the area once again. It was true. The only real obstacle in this location from predators would be the spruce trees themselves. Hiding wouldn't be much of a factor to consider unless they had spotted a den. Obviously, that was what they were doing now, but that was beside the point. It wasn't like a predator was stalking them as they spoke. Then again... who's to say that wasn't the case? Anything could happen. Artemis had self-taught himself to expect the worse, and plan the best possible retaliation to it. Once again, better safe than sorry.
"So in other words, neither of us know what lurks in this place yet. How exciting," he said, a sly smile streaking across his face before glancing at Fell and meeting eyes with the female.
"It'd be nice to settle down somewhere. Don't recall the last time I've stopped traveling."
As his gaze diverted to the of the vast landscape filled with spruce trees, Artemis went on.
"What kind of predators do lurk here? Of what you know of so far at least. A month isn't really much to go off of I'd imagine."

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell enjoyed the company of the male, left her quite amuzed in fact. She picked her way through the forest just as the male mentioned what predators they would find her. "I've only seen tracks," she replied. "But they belonged to a bear and her cubs most likely searching for a place to hibernate." She glanced around. "I've seen more prey around here than anything else." She met his eyes a moment, then turned away just as she caught a whiff of Heaven. She inhaled deeply right then. Could it be?
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Hibernation. Right. Winter was close by. It'd only be a matter of time before it was so. Thankfully they wouldn't need to worry about territorial bears starting in the next few weeks/months to follow.
...
Winter...
...
Artemis's train of thought had drifted into a deep self-contemplation before snapping back into reality, managing to at the very least grab a hold of what Fell was explaining halfway through. More prey over predator, eh? How delightful. Then, as if on cue to Fell's reaction, Artemis too had taken the scent of what radiated in the air, which in turn caused the male to halt, focusing his sense on it. Heaven indeed. Instinctively, a nose raised to the air, inhaling deep breaths of the scent. Artemis would then share an equally understanding glance of the situation at Fell.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
The female smiled at her companion and leaped into a trot, nose low to the ground at first thn she barked and sped into a canter. She jumped over a log and in the distance, she found a rock that would give her just enough height to look around. Fell hopped onto the rock and paused, staring through the trees, searching. Then, as if by magic, there they were, a small herd of Caribou, grazed on nuts and berries from the forest floor. Even a few yealings were with them. Fell jumped from the rock, landing in front of it, crouching as she watched the herd. She and Artemis were upwind, a great advantage if they decided to pursue them, but these ones weren't the ordinary size. Vanora made things difficult on wolves, demanding their numbers be greater. Just the two of them, Fell would only starve them if she ordered a hunt. Still, she longed for good meat.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Her smile had insisted plenty enough, as she would then give chase to the scent, bolting off to its origin. Artemis would follow suit, tailing the female as she would lead the way. Artemis too would jump over the fallen log, planted each paw atop it with the intention to push his body weight against it to incite more speed, covering an extra few feet of ground as to catch up to Fell, now only a short ways away. There had only been enough space for Fell to stand atop the rock, leaving Artemis to stand beside it in weight as the Arch scanned through the trees with her height advantage. Upon her hopping down, Artemis gazed at her, then following her stare, then noticing the herd of caribou up ahead. Crouching as well as to not attract attention, the thought of having such a meal to feast on was an imagination to kill for. Ha, get it? Cause the.... herd... and.... Ahem. Anyway.
"Boy would that be a treat to have right about now..." he muttered under his breath, knowing all and well that chasing them with few numbers wasn't the smartest thing to do unless they intended to expend whatever energy they had left. Smaller prey in this scenario would have to do, but boy was it tempting.
"At least we know now that we have something to look forward to."

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell watched as a bull and doe nosed each other and walked alongside each other, searching for food. It reminded her of how glad she was to have Artemis for company, no matter how goofy his personality was. At his statement, she nodded. "Someday soon, we will have enough wolves to take down more than just one elk or Caribou." She envisioned a large pack that roamed the lands, royals of Vanora. She snorted at his next statement and lowered her head to her forepaws. "Its torture just to watch them."
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Someday. He was looking forward to it. The day that they would be able to hunt down bigger prey rather than stalking that of rabbits and what not. Not in the sense of complaining, but more would be nice. It was only a matter of when wolves would join this newly founded pack by the Arch, Fell. He wondered as a side thought just how many times he could pull off the same lousy trick with the leaves, but that was for another day. What a random thought that was. Artemis chuckled quietly.
"You and I are on the same boat then."
The ivory wolf would give a glance at Fell.
"Probably shouldn't be staring too much. Oh look, you're drooling."
Fell clearly wasn't, but Artemis pretended it was so just to tease her since she seemed so honed in with the herd.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell blinked when Artemis mentioned she was drooling. She looked down, but only gazed at dry earth under her paws. He got her. She nipped playfully at his shoulder. "Jerk." Fell suddenly wondered what else could be lurking just outside the forest. The Caribou were coming from the North. The female stood and shook debris from her thickening coat and flicked her tail for Artemos to follow. "Come on, let's see what else we find out here." She glanced back at him with a challenge. "I'll race you to the edge." She lowered herself to a crouch, ready for takeoff.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis couldn't help but let out a laugh as fell had actually glanced down to see if there was indeed drool left behind, in which to her surprise would find none. He'd transition to a chuckle as she nipped him on the shoulder before falling silent. How humorous to see that she was gullible to a certain extent. Then again, she had fallen victim to such a childish retaliation back when they had sparred. Who would've imagined leaves would prove as a useful smokescreen? Yes. That was still something he would brag about. The day that he managed to catch her again the second time with the same trick will be the most glorious one. Ahem. I digress. As Fell signaled for him to follow, Artemis too stood up on all fours. Ears flickered to the challenge proposed by her. He raised his eyebrows, quite taken aback as a sly grin streak across his maw.
"Oh? You want to race?" he replied.
Artemis lined up with her, crouching into a ready position as his paws dug into the ground for better grip.
"On your count, Ms. Fell."

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell grinned at Artemis as he joined her in position. "I sure hope your legs are as fast as your reflex." She lowered herself to a crouch, ears back, ready. The moment she felt that Artemis was ready to, she bolted. "Go!" The Arch let gravity do the work. She could feel her nails digging in the earth, step by step. The trees seemed to blur. Suddenly, light protruded from trunks ahead. Fell headed for it, knowing it must be some sort of end to the forest itself. She glanced back, wondering if Artemis was able to keep up with her.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis remained attentive to Fell's signal. As the first letter had been carved out from her mouth, paws pushed against the surface of the forest. Hind legs forcefully dug into the dirt for a much stable grip to the earth. The sheer intensity of such a launch was enough to launch debris behind him as the arctic wolf sped off. Naturally, Fell was ahead since she had been the first to call, knowing when to go. Although, it wouldn't have been a problem to play a little catch-up... had it not been for an obstacle. Accustoming to the climate, terrain, and quirk of the land, the scape was still foreign to him in a sense. As such, Artemis wouldn't take notice of a small rock sticking up from the ground. All that was needed was a single paw to collide with it. In result, the male lost footing, stumbling forward before falling face first into the grassy plain. Sliding to a stop, Artemis struggled back up on all fours, spitting out patches of dirt and grass that seeped into his maw from the fall.
'Oh that tastes wonderful~!' he thought sarcastically, knowing that the race was lost.
He mumbled to himself in defeat, flustered at how the rock had cost him both the race and his dignity. Talk about an embarrassing way to lose, especially to someone that he was in a sense trying to impress. So far, goofy and unpredictable were his known attributes. After this, clumsy. What a way to start things off. Spitting out the remnants of what was left in his mouth, Artemis restarted to a balanced trot, trailing the scent of Fell to where she had run off to. Eventually, he arrived. A noticeable patch of dirt was latched underneath his snout, a straight expression shown to what had occurred. The male didn't utter a word, knowing all and well that Fell would put two and two together.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell slid to a halt short of the opening at the edge of the forest. Panting but triumphant, the female turned to look behind her and saw that Artemis was covered in debris, even in his mouth. She furrowed a single brow at him, then glanced over him to see the drag Mark's from his fall. "Are you alright?" She kept it serious. She didn't like to be laughed at if something like that had happened to her. She moved to his side and brushed against him to try and disentangle debris from his white coat.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis coughed, a single leaf launching out from his mouth as it would sway down to the surface.
"Oh, I'm fine. I was just having a one on one conversation with mother earth for a while before she bid be farewell. She was generous enough to leave me a parting gift."
The male had sat in place, an expreasion of defeat shown before a smile formed, unable to help but laugh at his own clumsiness and how it had occured.
Giving Fell a gentle shove at the shoulder whilst glancing ovee ro her, he'd then say, "Anyways, you won fair and square. Maybe next time we race, I'll take the win. Enjoy your victory while it lasts Madame," he challanged in a playful manner.
His azure gaze would revert back to what laid ahead as they stood on the cliffside. What a view.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Amatullah couldn't get her mind to sway away from that night; she could the remember the rain as if the droplets were dropping onto her maw in that moment. Lightning and thunder danced furiously around them in spellbinding movement, and then the water began to puddle. Slowly engulfing them until the water wiped friends and foes from their paws. It was easier to close her eyes and give in, than it was to keep on fighting the elements. The sudden wickedness of the thunderstorm could only be described as god-like; like the ceremony meant to please the titan's gods evoked wrath beyond understanding. And the young femme couldn't shake the image of a furious Hassun during the chaos, as if the spirit of her father was protecting her before the brutes could hurt his little girl.
As much as Amatullah liked to continue to muse on the theory, the female didn't think Hassun would risk killing his daughter. The female could barely keep her head above the water. But that's not what continues to haunt her to this day - it was the serene look that was plastered on her mother's face. Her mother was completely calm while everyone around her drowned, watching them fade into the depths, lungs empty.
Voices in the distance distracted her, but Amatullah couldn't decide whether this was a hallucination or real. She didn't mean to spy, but ahead were two wolves racing. The femme smiled at them before continuing her path while limping. During her trip with the current, her leg had gotten tangled in underwater debris. The female did not want to intrude on their good time, so the female took a few more steps before laying down for a quick rest.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell moved to the cliff with Artemis and as she looked out, she couldn't believe the beauty of it all. Just a ways down the hill of the forest, field and specs that must have been prey? Then the hills and mountains. She certainly wondered where they would...and that's when she spotted it. "Look!" She spied a rock formation that protruded from the side of the hills in the distance. "That looks like a cave." She said, trying to squint at it, but there was no use in trying too hard. They had a ways to go before they would reach the hills. She turned away. "Come on, let's She spotted something on the forest floor. In the light of the sun shining onto the forest, it was merely a shadow. "What...?" She glanced at Artemis. Her tail rose and her fur spiked along her back. She wondered who it was. Too hard to tell. She began to take slow steps towards the shadows before her. "Who is there?" She called out, lowering her head to try and see better, but it was no use. The strange lay too far in the shadows. He or she would need need to step in the Ray's of sun shining through the gap if Fell was to identify it.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis took in the sight the was before him from where they were. There was much to be explored. Land that was yet to be found. Then again, who was to say that Fell didn't have a head start? Artemis had only arrived recently to the scene whilst the Arch was far more knowledgeable of it than him. Azure orbs stared at the direction that she had pointed out, taking note of the rock formation that had indeed protruded from the side of the hills. That must've been a den that they could occupy for the pack. Perhaps as a temporary home base, or permanent. Who was to say they couldn't find somewhere else that was more convenient? Though from the looks of it as of now, it was promising. It was just a matter of getting there.
Hearing Fell's concerning tone, the arctic wolf only gave a quick glance to her before gazing at the general direction of where she was now eyeing, eventually realizing a black silhouette from within the forest. The shape of the figure was possibly that of a wolf. Whether it held ill intentions or no harm at all, well... that was to be concluded through time. As Fell had taken the first approach at a turtles pace, Artemis followed close by, attentive to what may come to be. His eyes beamed at the unidentified figure, never breaking away as he kept careful attention to any movement. If things were to turn for the worst, Artemis would be there. Even though he had always been the type to think south, he was optimistic in hopes that this stranger was no adversary.

Amatullah gently placed her head upon her paws while heaving a pleasant sigh. Her memories crowded her psyche, but Amatullah made sure she would fall slave to her past despite it being hard. The femme had heavy eyelids from her journey, so perhaps a nap would suit her well. The voices in the distance made perfect background noise, but they fell silent. Did they leave? Amatullah lifted her head slightly to peer of the bush to see them coming towards.. her?
"Hello?" Amatullah spoke in a sweet, but slurry tone due to exhaustion. Her ears perked toward the voices between the duo to listen as they neared her.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell parker her ears when she heard a small response. She sniffed at the air. No blood. The voice seemed childish. "Are you hurt?" She called out. She took slow steps, glancing at Artemis as she did so. Whoever was near, perhaps they werent a threat. If anything, she sounded tired, she thought. Fell wondered if she had been trailing them. If she was, that was a great stalking skill she had, indeed.
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
The echo to their question was heard. A confirmation that whoever was hidden did not hold any ill intentions. Whilst it was too soon to assume, that was how it was appearing. The tone was sweet but was shadowed by exhaustion. There was no scent of blood. Fell must've realized that as well. It was a relief to know this, but that didn't dismiss that fact that there may have been an injury. Artemis seemingly exchanged glances with the Arch before her gaze diverted back to the general direction of the voice. He kept close, tailing the female as she practically did most of the talking. No need to sound off a second time when the question he had in mind had already been asked.

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Amatullah rose to her hinds slowly as her limbs were stiff with sores from her long trek. Her green eyes surveyed the area around her with caution before speaking. The female didn’t see the wolf until she jumped over the tall bush that cradled her in camouflage. Her hind leg was injured, so the female yelped in pain and stood still awkwardly until the pain ceased. When it did, Amatullah granted a smile at the pair. Before her was a white brute and an ebony coloured lass. Their energy didn’t give her a vibe of being aggressive, just concerned for her wellbeing.
“My leg got twisted during a flood and it’s never healed correctly, but in all I’m just fine.” The lady spoke slowly while showing her hurt leg to them. “I’m not intruding, am I? I was trying to go somewhere secure for a well-needed rest.”

Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Fell waited, flicking her ears a bit to pinpoint the lady's voice she heard just a few feet in front of her. Then she showed herself. Fell gazed at the crippled female, her pelt design mesmorizing. She met the girls light, gentle green orbs before noticing that her leg was hurt. Curious, Fell moved closer to the female to examine her injuries. "We won't hurt you." She said in reassurance, "My name is Fell." She flicked her tail at her trailing companion behind her. "This is Artemis, a Guardian." She looked at him. "She is hurt." She stepped to the side so he could see. Fell didn't know what to do. She didn't know the area very well. Perhaps Artemis had seen a few things in his travels. Fell hadn't even done much for the cut on her front left paw. What could they possibly do for the girl?
Re: [MAIN] Azure Wilds
Artemis's eyes darted to the figure that had come into view. The factor of danger wasn't present anymore, especially putting into consideration that the stranger was injured. He only gave a second of attention to the female's appearance, her unique pelt pattern, as well as glistening green eyes that honed the nature around them. There wasn't any need for a self-introduction, as Fell had taken a step ahead in doing so for the both of them. Well, aside from his last name, but that didn't necessarily matter at the moment. What was of concern was her injured hind leg. Its awkward positioning was apparent, only amplified as this stranger lifted off the weight of it to reduce the amount of pain endured. As fell had taken a step aside, Artemis took some forward, now in proper distance to inspect the injury although there wasn't much to look at other than its shape.
Silence ensued as he contemplated before asking, "Did you feel something move, or was it just sharp pain?"
Twice had Artemis undergone such an unfortunate event, having twisted his front paws at separate intervals throughout the year. Whilst it was painful, resting and never applying unneeded stress had resolved the problem on its own. Though, if it were something of a much grander scale, as in something out of place, it would be a much more painful process. Yet this was out of assumption. Regardless if Artemis wasn't a fully fledged healer, he knew a thing or two. If he hadn't, there was no way he would be alive and standing where he was now.
