"If we split up, we can cover more ground, maybe find her quicker." Oddey voiced, flicking his gaze between the duo. "But we should stay within ear shot in case we find some thing or need help." He added, ears twitching nervously.
"I can take the middle path and you two take each of the sides."

The male released a tensed breath, icy blue eyes flicking between the paths that Torik and Fell had disappeared down. He moved a few steps forward along his chosen path, nose twitching as he drew in deep breaths, praying he'd find some sort of scent. All the while he gaze dropped to the damp earth, picking apart the mass of vegetation for the possibility of tracks. Did he make the right choice by going on his own?
Oddey trusted his own instincts, his skills refined by his years of having to fend for himself since he was a young wolf. But now he had the life of another in his paws, perhaps more if Fell and Torik got into trouble. His mind was scattered, worry and panic setting in the longer he looked for signs of life.
The Eastern wolf halted, shutting his eyes for a moment as he regain his composure. Now was not the time to have a melt down. Opening his eyes once more, he inhaled deeply again, tilting his muzzle upwards slightly in an attempt to smell past the growing stench of smoke. His ears twitched in surprise. He could pick up the faint smell of something past the ashy scent. Was it Amatullahs scent?

Some time had passed since Amatullah’s departure from Fell; what task turned into a few short days turned into many weeks. She couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt when the female mused about Fell. Was she allowed to return? Would she be able to keep her place among the hierarchy?
And with every slight movement or jab rooting from her womb, Amatullah would grit her teeth to hold back tears. An image of Roan appeared in mind — Amatullah regretted every second they spent together, and Amatullah felt dirty immediately all over again. The female wished she had the confidence to say “no” instead of fearing him enough to agree. He made her feel dirty, and there was something odd about the brute. A part of him that wasn’t right. And now she was all alone, again, with a litter on the way.
The tears returned to her cheeks and they wouldn’t stop. Her whole body ached from traveling so far. She tilted her skull back and released a howl that bellowed sadness and forgiveness; oh how she wished her dad could come from the skies to support her in these hard times.

Oddey released a low grumble, growing frustrated and worried that he had made the wrong decision. What was he thinking? There was no way the group could have found Amatullah in these conditions, and now they were all separated. The growing scent of smoke and ash burned his ebony nose, distracting the wolf from the current task. Lifting his gaze upwards, large grey cloud billowed around the tree tops, snuffing out most sun light. Judging how long it's been since he had split from Fell and Torik, there was possibly only a few hours of light left, causing Oddey to wince with regret. Refocusing his attention to the task at hand, he breathed a strained sigh before speaking his thoughts out loud.
"I can try and retrace my steps to where the path forked, but then I could be very well walking closer to the fire." He reasoned, tail flicking anxiously. "I could continue on this path and try to find some sort of shelter, but then I'll be further from the others." Oddey racked his mind for a solution, the thickening smoke invading his focus.
Impulsively, he lifted his muzzle high and released a stressed and worrisome howl, directed towards either Fell or Torik, or perhaps anyone within ear shot. The call announced he had had no luck finding the missing female, and that he himself wasn't quite sure what to do. He relaxed his head back down, ears tall and alert as he waited for an answer.

Relief settled into Oddey's chest as he heard Fell's reply, absorbing it's message of hope before beginning to trot forward along his chosen path. His pace quickened slightly with each step, trying his best to increase the distance between himself and the supposed growing fire as it swallowed trees and spat out smoke.
"This was stupid, really really stupid." He mumbled to himself, icy blue eyes flicking across the foliage for any signs of life as he couldn't rely much on his nose anymore.

Fear swallowed Oddey as his gaze flicked behind him, focusing on the growing flames as it snaked towards the path he found himself traveling. Sparks flew from it's peaks, landing on nearby bushes and catching fire like a match on gasoline. The new sense of danger triggered the males primal instincts, causing him to abandon all thoughts of looking for his friend as he took off at an alarming rate. His soul goal now was to out run the fire, thin build weaving between tall trees and large pads leaping over fallen obstacles. His heart beat pounded in his ears, large pants falling from his parted maw as Oddey continued forward with no destination.
Because the canine had lived on his own for so long, his instincts led him to only care for himself in the face of a life threatening situation. Subconsciously, Oddey knew he would regret his decision, but for the time being all he worried about was finding some way to avoid being burnt alive.

Ebony claws scratched against the dry soil as Oddey skidded to a halt, suddenly standing upon a lake at the bottom of a cliff. The water was a sure sign that there was a way to survive this fire, and a small amount of hope rose into his chest. This realization aloud Oddey's mind to bring forth how he had left Fell, Torik and Amatullah back in the forest, the fire slowly closing in on them. Dread and regret quickly snuffed out the hope he once had, quickly turning to face the forest. It seemed he had been able to get a head of the danger, but wasn't sure just how ahead he was. He whined, eyes flicking across the edge of the vegetation as he balanced his options.
Rolling his head back, he released a quick howl, hoping that any of the three wolves would hear his message 'There's a lake towards the south-west.' He conveyed before beginning back into the forest, his pace a rapid trot, hesitant to force himself back towards the fire. He prayed that they heard him.
